Yesterday, on Sunday, June 12th, as Christ The King Baptist Church continues to celebrate Youth Month for June, college and high school graduates were also recognized.
The King Educational Resouce Ministry, led by Mr. Leon Groce and Niko Owens, co-chairs. Each committee member wore the emphasis and decorated shirts that displayed Faith over Fear. Mr. Groce, Principal of Milwaukee Public Schools, also emphasized a scripture reference from the Book of Peter.
¨Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you,¨
1st Peter 5:7.
Deacon Lonnie Anderson and All The Kingś Men Choir Director and Principal of Milwaukee Public Schools gave an inspiring message to the graduates.
The committee distributed three awards: a one-time CTK Award Recipient received $2,000, and the Service Award Recipient earned $1,000. The Marilyn McVicker Scholarship Award is renewable every four years as long as the graduate maintains a 3.0-grade point average.
Pastor John Wesley McVicker, Sr, ended the culmination of events with a powerful prayer and a reminder to all of the graduates from the church covenant.
He cited a passage from the Church Covenant. I am posting an Amazon link to the same book Pastor John Wesley McVicker, Sr., covered, lectured, and reiterated in our Wednesday night Virtual Bible Study Class.

¨We moreover engage that when we remove from this place, we will,

as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry
out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.¨
Pastor McVicker, Sr., reminded all graduates that if they need something, they can always call home, meaning CTK.

In 1989, when I joined CTK, during my Senior Year in high school at Wauwatosa East. The pastor was our esteemed Founder and Pastor, and Rolen Womack was the Assistant Pastor. The Christian Board of Education, under the leaders of retired Principles of Milwaukee Public Schools, Mondell Mayfield and Jennie Dorsey, and their team, awarded me $500.00 for the Service Award. I used the money for books at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, earning my BA in Political Science.
Someone once said, ¨Weŕe like wine; we improve with time.¨
After my church duties, I rushed to Sunday School area and forgot to congratulate the graduates! Congratulations, Graduates, for a job well done!
