The Winter Snow Storm is not stopping Christians from participating in Ash Wednesday Service.
What is Ash Wednesday?
Ash Wednesday is always the first day of Lent, 46 days before Easter Sunday. On Ash Wednesday, Christians focus on their heart through a transformation through prayer, repentance, reflection, and celebration. Christians give up something they like/enjoy doing following Jesus fasting 40 days and 40 nights in Mark 4: 1-11.
Forty days represents the time when Satan tempted Jesus Christ in the desert. The 40-day fasting, Lenten Season, excluding Sundays, is the celebration of Jesus rebuking Satan, dying on the Cross for the world’s sins, and resurrecting from the dead on Easter Sunday.
In commemoration of Christ, Ash Wednesday is a time of reflection where Christians’ foreheads are embedded with ashes symbolizing a Cross on their foreheads. Mass is still offered for Ash Wednesday. Parishioners, whether a member or not, may attend any of the following churches. Click on the link “It’s not too late” for today’s remaining service times and locations.
