Christ The King Baptist Church Celebrates 38th Years, Founder’s Day 2023

Pastor John Wesley McVicker, Sr., and First Lady Marilynn McVicker, Founders of CTK

July is set apart to honor its Founders for their vision, victories, and venerated attitude during praise or problematic trials. The parishioners at Christ The King did not act alone on their first premier Celebration of 38 years of Pastor John Wesley McVicker, Sr, and First Lady Marilynn McVicker being founders of the local mega-church. Three guests from out of town traveled across the Great Lakes, the Appalachian Mountains, the Ohio River, and more to say Thank you from the Professional Dance to playing the violin and hearing a word from Heaven; all illuminated a grateful heart.

1 Thessalonians 5:12 (NIV)

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you.

1 Thessalonians 5:13 (NIV)

Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.

Morning Scripture from Excutive Pastor, Treyvon Sinclair

The Powerful Dancer

Kai Yarbrough did not say a word, but her dance spoke of Chapters of Love honoring Jesus and dedicated the song and dance to her Grandparent’s Founder’s Day Celebration. The young dancer travels from city to city, competing in various dance shows.

The Profound Pastor & Preacher

Please listen to the profound Message from Christ The King Baptist Church Founders, Pastor John Wesley McVicker, Sr, and First Lady Marilynn.

“I preached my first sermon in 1975, entitled 99, and 1/2 won’t due. That was my beginning, and it went on from there.”

From the video, Pastor McVicker explains how his Mom and Dad raised 11 children under one roof, with one kitchen table and bathroom, and the entire family was always connected to the church by his mom enforcing Sunday School at Hopewell Baptist Church attendance as a prerequisite to go outside. When he was younger, he foresaw his desire to be Detective but became a Fire Fighter instead and later a Pastor.

The Priceless First Lady

He met Marilynn at the Go Karts rink. Lady Marilynn McVicker remembers how they met at Bethel Baptist Church. Pastor summarized how he went to go karting, and Marilynn was there.

First Lady Marilynn McVicker added how she saw him and liked what she saw.

First Lady Marilynn McVicker also added how she loves singing in the choir.

“The Youth Ministry became a passion of mine, and it showed me what my purpose was.”

The Passionate & Prominent Message

A friend, brother in the ministry, and Chrisitan family Dr. Joe Albert Bush, Sr., from Walker Memorial Baptist Church in the Bronx, New York, spoke prophetically from Luke 7: 9-14. A Great Prophet is in our Midst.

Luke 7:9-13 NIV

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.” Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well. Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”

Luke 7: 9-13 NIV

Dr. Bush explained the difference between a Prophetic Ministry and a Pathetic Minister.

“A prophetic minister is committed to identifying the poor, underprivileged, disadvantaged, marginalized, needy, and outcast. The ministry is about God and People. God and people are inextricably bound together. You can’t have God if you are not interested in people.”

Dr. Rev. Joe Albert Bush, Sr.

“The Pathetic Ministry focuses on people getting your blessings and not your lesson. The Pathetic Ministry wants to avoid hearing about people and their needs.”

“Prophetic Ministry is committed to those things that will glorify God. Doing something RADICAL. Dr. Bush reminded Christ The King Baptist Church parishioners how radical they are.”

Dr. Bush added

“Marilynn sat down and organized a school.”

Before service, Jan and others from the Hospitality Ministry passed out Executive Ink Pens to everyone attending church. After service, Executive Treyvon Sinclair asked members not to meet and greet in the lobby but go directly to the QLC area for a delicate, accessible, and scrumptious Brunch. Chef Larry and his team cooked and served pancakes, sausage, turkey bacon, bacon, biscuits, grits, fried chicken, baked chicken, rice, greens, cornbread, and more available for all who previously signed up.
