Reverend Brenda A. Sheets was born on Thursday, MAY 15, 1952, and died on Tuesday, FEBRUARY 6, 2024. Before her untimely death, Rev. Sheets was an anchor at CTK who labored as an Altar Guild Member on the West Leon Terrance location and in the new location on 60th Street. Her love for Jesus Christ allowed her to become a Minister, study more, return to school, and enroll in school for a degree in Theology, therefore becoming an ordained Reverend.
Leadership, Legacy and Love
Throughout her life’s journey, Reverend. Rev. Sheets not only labored for CTK, but she also worked in the Milwaukee Public School System as a Paraprofessional and at Sojourner Truth House as an Advocate for abused women and children. Rev Sheets faithfully taught Sunday School in her free time every Sunday morning. Eventually, Administration combined her class with another, and both teachers took turns teaching Sunday school.
Her leadership, legacy, and love are undisputed and will not go unnoticed. CTK mourns an Angel who tried to help many people as she passed along.
“Rev. Sheets was my initial Sunday School Teacher, and when she could not teach, she asked me to substitute in her place, and without any hesitation, I did. We also worked together several times in The Milwaukee Public Schools, and she came to a banquet with me at the Domes for Sojourner Truth House, where I was a volunteer worker. I remember one person resigned, and Rev. Sheets applied for the position. She met the staff, fell in love with the work, and became a team member. In subtle ways, Rev. Sheets would give me relationship advice without asking. She was loving and had a heart of gold. Although I never took her advice, I always knew she cared. Rest in Sweet Peace, Rev. I’ll surely see you in the Third Heaven around the throne.”
