Christ The King Baptist church bids farewell to longtime faithful member Lawanda Baldwin and welcomes a new chapter in her church’s journey. CTK welcomes Pastor Charles E. Nesbitt from College Park, Georgia, who joined CTK for Third Saturday’s Annual Men’s Day Workshop and Sunday’s Celebration.
On Sunday, April 21st, 2024, Christ The King Baptist Church Annual Men’s Day Celebration was Bitter Sweet. It wasn’t enjoyable because longtime faith member Lawanda Baldwin is relocating south.

Lawanda Baldwin served as a teacher for youth and adults, Samaritan, Finance, Family Life Ministry, Ushers, Lazararus Bereavement Ministry, CTK Development, CTK Credit Union, and CTK Church Board. Her children also served as Youth Ushers, Choir, and Soles for Jesus & St. Bens. CTK Board of Directors gave her a plaque for her time and energy at CTK.

The plaque read
Pastor John W. McVicker and Marilynn McVicker, Sr. The Board of Directors and members of Christ The King Baptist Church present to Lawanda C. Baldwin for her unwavering faith and dedicated service, which have been a beacon of light and inspiration to our church and The Milwaukee Community. Matthew 23:11, ‘The greatest among you will be your servant.”
After her “Birthday song,” Pastor John W. McVicker, Sr., added, “We thank God for your uninterrupted service. When you relocated here, you were a young single woman and found this fellowship. Her husband was here, and her children were born here, and they have been steadfast and unmovable. We wish you well. We pray for you in this next chapter of your life…..” God bless you, and may God’s best be upon you; Alvin, Anthony…CTK will always be home. God Bless You.”
Pastor John Wesley McVicker, Sr.

CTK’s Annual Men’s Day Celebration is not over. It continues beyond Saturday’s food and fellowship workshop to Sunday’s Annual Event. There is still one more Saturday left for the Men’s Health Fair on April 27th, 2024, and one more Sunday to culminate this month’s activities. The color for the last Sunday in April is green. Please do not stay at home if you do not have green. Join CTK anyway and be encouraged and enlightened in the Lord. Men’s Health Fair begins at 8:30 am and ends at noon. Sunday’s Service begins promptly at 9:00 am.
