
Archbishop Jerome Listecki
From 2010 to 2025, Archbishop Jerome Listecki significantly contributed to the Catholic community. He was instrumental in establishing/ceremony the new law library at Marquette University, and his regular masses at Ascension Living Alexian Village Retirement Home were a source of comfort and inspiration. Numerous positive engagements marked his tenure, and now, he is passing the baton.

Archbishop Listecki’s Continuous Studies
Bachelor of Arts- Saint Joseph College Seminary in 1971- completed his theological studies at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary (in Mundelein, Illinois).
“After studies in canon law and moral theology in Rome, Listecki earned a licentiate and doctorate from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in 1981 with a dissertation entitled Indissolubility and the United Methodist Church. He previously earned a Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University.” However, his continuous studies did not help him deal with future conflicts.

Archbishop’s Listecki’s Conflict:
Archbishop Jerome Listecki faced a significant conflict during his tenure. His decision to not disclose sexual abuse cases at St. John’s Cathedral in Milwaukee made out of ‘fear of the catholic church going Bankrupt,’ led to profound implications that serve as a moment of reflection on the challenges church leadership faces.
Archbishop’s Listecki’s Career Change:
In Numbers 13, Moses hands over the leadership to Joshua to lead the 12 spies into Canaan (the Promised Land).
Following his tenure from 2010 to 2025, Archbishop Jerome Listecki has passed the leadership of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to 63-year-old Archbishop Jeffrey Grob. This transition marks a significant and eagerly anticipated change in the archdiocese’s leadership.
