The Annual Men’s Day Celebration at Christ the King Baptist Church began on April 4 and culminated on April 25 with a Men’s Conference led by Walter Goodwyn on April 24, 2025. Ninety men gathered to receive words of wisdom from Rev. Pastor Christopher Boston.

After the workshop, the men returned to the church the following morning, each carrying their Bibles and bow ties, symbolizing unity and shared faith. With a blissful attitude, they were ready to worship, eager to hear one final message from Rev. Pastor Christopher Boston and support each other in their spiritual journey.
Here’s a recap of last Sunday at Christ the King Baptist Church.

“Seven weeks ago, South Airlines announced they will not allow passengers to check their bags for free,” said Rev. Boston.

“On March 11, 2025, Southwest announced that it is banning its Free Check Bag Policy and that, beginning May 28, Southwest Airlines will start charging for baggage.”

“It is costly, a costly proposition to carry baggage.”
“Carrying baggage can hold you back, slow you down, hinder your progress.”
“It’s hard to run with purpose when carrying baggage.”

Hebrews is a book of believers who become hardened and apathetic.
“A lot of us men may have spiritual fatigue or drought syndrome.” This concept refers to a state of spiritual weariness or feeling disconnected from God, which many of us may experience at some point in our faith journey.
“Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. This unwavering faith, coupled with the support of the church community, can help all overcome any challenge and keep walking, just as the believers in Hebrews did.
They went through troubles, but they kept walking.”
After Rev. Boston’s sermon, Pastor John Wesley McVicker, Sr. encourages men to Commit to Service.

Demonstration, “I’m getting rid of my pride so I can get with God’s work.” This ‘Demonstration’ is a symbolic act of humility and commitment to serving God’s work, not a literal action of discarding personal belongings.
Two young people came forward to rededicate their service to Jesus Christ.

While waiting for a few more men to join the others, Pastor McVicker added, “Good management keeps your calendar clear of matters that don’t matter.”
After the service, Pastor John Wesley McVicker, Sr. invited all men, regardless of whether they were wearing a bowtie, to join together for a group photo. He requested that all men take a moment to commemorate the day by participating in the picture after the Benediction/closing prayer.
