Parents: Do you know where your children are? Parents, what are your goals for your children this summer? Your guidance and involvement are crucial and influential in shaping their experiences and ensuring their safety.
VISION
INDICTMENT
There have been more than one occasion when I rode the Milwaukee County Transit System, and a young female was trying to get on the right bus to go to her boyfriend’s house. The females were always disoriented and asked the driver for directions. Some continued to engage on the telephone to let him know their present location on the bus.
Just as a driver needs a license to drive, a smoker needs a license or ID to purchase cigarettes, and a drinker needs a license to buy alcoholic beverages, young people also need a ‘license’ to engage in sexual relations. With sex, there are other factors like teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, condom breaking, and more! In order not to experience all that grief in middle and high school, here are some tips to help youth become Victorious in Life!
Avoid consuming alcohol, but I think you understand the message!
VICTORIOUS TIPS on LOVE
Girls, NEVER, EVER go to the boys’ house. If your parents are home, he should try to go to your house!
Let’s talk about the house! If your child is dating, encourage them to avoid being alone at home. Instead, suggest public places like the movies or museum, the park, playing basketball, riding bikes, going to a concert on Summerfest grounds, or walking around the beach. By creating a safe and open environment, you’re reducing the risk of temptation or sin. If your child’s partner is coming over and you’re at home, it’s crucial to maintain a visible presence. Stay in a visible area like the kitchen and make cookies or a cake. Cook dinner together and then watch a movie in the living room. By being present, you’re ensuring a respectful and responsible visit. Remember, no boy should be in the daughter’s bedroom. He should leave early before curfew, following the no overnight guests rule!
VOCATIONS
Fun Activities for the Youth: Let’s make this summer memorable for our children. They can explore exciting opportunities, provide fun and entertainment, and help them grow and develop their skills.
Work at Summerfest, Miller Park, State Fair.
Attend Pre-College programs during the summer at different college campuses. Look them up online. There are some at UW-Milwaukee, Marquette, UW-Parkside, and more. Some programs allow you to stay in the dorm over the summer and attend classes, while others will enable you to commute from home. The university will provide grants to low-income families. Call the individual schools to inquire about their Pre-College programs.
For more details, visit the vacation Bible School at Christ The King Baptist Church on the church website.
If you are into art, ballet, baseball, cooking, soccer, or other recreation classes, join a recreation class with Milwaukee Public Schools. Look online or through the MPS Recreation book.
Don’t forget about Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts. Join a local troop where you can go camping and earn fun rewards.
So, what happened to most girls on the Milwaukee County Transit System finding their boyfriend’s house? The Angels redirected them! They got lost and returned home!
Let’s make this summer safe and rewarding for our children. With your guidance and the right activities, we can ensure they have a memorable and enriching summer. Remember, your involvement is key and a source of reassurance and confidence for their safety and well-being.
The good teacher was impressed by the Assistant Principal’s doctorate and believed his lies that he was married and about to get a divorce. He told the gullible teacher, “I live in a duplex. I stay on one floor, and she stays on the other.” “We’re getting a divorce.”
Bad Romance aired at 9 pm on Tuesday, Channel 12, ABC. The disheartening scenes reminded viewers to follow Jesus’ rules; nothing good comes out once Christ’s rules are put on a shelf and broken.
Oh, the divorce did come, but not until the wife filed it after her husband, the assistant principal, was sentenced in court for killing the middle school social studies teacher and having numerous affairs afterward.
The teacher from Louisiana was two months pregnant with his child and kept believing his lies until she saw him and his wife on a cruise ship on social media. She asked her co-workers if she should confront him. She did! As a result, he asked her to meet him at 8 pm in a parking lot. He got off his motorcycle and rode in her car to a gun ranger area, where he shot her in the head. He drove the car back to the parking lot and got on his bike to see Mistress Number Two. He killed her and went on to his next girlfriend while leaving her young daughter, a three-year-old, in the back seat asleep and left in the parking lot unattended. He was sentenced to jail and is in the worst prison, according to 20/20.
After the police officer found the little girl walking with a pillow in her hand in the parking lot, not far from her home, he questioned her. The little girl told him, “I need a bath to get the blood off my foot.”
The officer asked, “Whose blood is that?” The little lad was able to tell him that her Mom was shot in the head by her boyfriend, and then the story unfolded.
The story’s moral is that ladies, if he is not DIVORCED, leave him alone! It’s always a GREAT IDEA never to associate ROMANCE with co-workers.

Please read the attached article, under the photo, about our 40 days of fasting (typically no meat on Fridays, but also withholding in any other area of one’s life), giving to the less fortunate, helping people experiencing poverty, reading & studying Scriptures, and remembering JESUS CHRIST washing the disciple’s feet, First Communion with his 11 and not 12 disciples, (Judas Iscariot left the upper room to betray JESUS.) After Jesus’ arrest on Holy Thursday, trial, and conviction by Pontius Pilate, on Good Friday, he was whipped, beaten, and nailed to the cross wearing a crown of thorns; between 12 and 3, He was pierced in his side by a soldier, and his garments gambled off; he gave John, his beloved disciple, permission to take care of Mother Mary while dying on the cross; Jesus spoke to the Father on the cross, took a sip of wine, bow his head, gave up the ghost, and died. On Silent Saturday, Jesus walked into Hell; on Resurrection Easter, he left the borrowed tomb, ate breakfast with his disciples, and ascended into Heaven. He bore the penalty for every Christian’s sin and transgressions. Now, Christians are no longer bound but free.
Joel 2:12-13 – “Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.
Holy Thursday, Jueves Santo. What is its Significance in Christianity?
FACTS
On Palm Sunday, Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem. On Holy Thursday, the following events occur the day before Good Friday. For more detailed information, please click the link below:
The Last Supper was a Passover meal Jesus shared with the Twelve Disciples. After the meal, Judas Iscariot leaves to betray Jesus.
Peter refuses to allow Jesus to wash his feet in the Foot-Washing of the Apostles. Jesus said if I do not wash your feet, you will have no part of me. Peter said well, Wash me all over. Jesus said that is not necessary because you already had a bath.
Christ’s agony and prayer in Gethsemane when he was sweating blood from his face. He said, “Let this cup pass from me if it is thy will.” All the disciples went, but only the three went a little closer to wait while Jesus prayed in the Garden.
The arrest of Jesus. Jesus told Judas after he kissed him to let the soldiers know who to arrest. Jesus said, “You betray your Master with a Kiss? Jesus is arrested, questioned by the Sanhedrin, and then sent to Pontius Pilate for trial. Peter denies that he knew Jesus Christ three times while waiting in the courtyard to hear about Jesus’ arrest. Jesus said, “You will deny that you even know me before the cock crows.”
FAITH
Church of the GESU, A Catholic Jesuit Parish, and congregations all over the city celebrated Holy Thursday. At Marquette University, there was a confession of sins and prayer for the 12:05 Mass. Although there is only one Mass on official holidays, parishioners can still attend Confession, Pray, and light a candle.
At 7:00 p.m., Priests and parishioners collaborated to have a mass washing of feet, partaking in the Lord’s Communion, and a celebration of song, scripture, and an informative sermon about “Feet.” The eloquent sermon reminded Christians to approach each other’s feet with Christ’s compassion. The Priest told the listeners never to forget. After Mass ended in the upper church, all the parishioners and Priests went to the lower church, symbolizing JESUS’s visit to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. The Priest prayed in the Garden with the Altar Helper, the choir sang, and after the choir rendered the songs of Zion, parishioners prayed silently, and Mass was over.
Good Friday Services at Gesu Parish will be at Noon in the Upper Church.

Battles
The Dali Ship, which was going to Sri Lanka, bumped into the Baltimore bridge, causing it to collapse and fall into the Patapsco River. The ship members were all reported fine, but for those working on the bridge, six of the eight construction workers are unaccounted for and may still be in the Patapsco River.
“A report from the Baltimore Banner added that the missing men were construction workers from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico who are in their 30s and 40s, with spouses and children.”
Being active in a church or attending a ministry meeting, such as choir rehearsal, praise dance, or Bible Study, will reduce stress and boost one energy. Drinking alcohol, going shopping, going on trips, and eating out may relax one for the moment, but being active in a church can destress someone for a lifetime and help one make better decisions in life.

The life of St. Patrick reminds one of leaders from the Bible. Sold into slavery, Joseph. Converting those to Christianity, Saul later called Paul and many more.
Per Google, “While trying to convert the Irish into Christians, St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the holy trinity with each leaf representing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The three leaves of a shamrock are also said to stand for faith, hope and love.”

Genesis 16::7-8, “The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur. 8 And he said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?”
Christ The King Baptist Church, Walker Memorial Baptist Church, and other churches partnered to help the unfortunate in Malawi, Tanzania, and other countries. They contributed to digging four wells for fresh water for the people, building a church, and supporting Pastors in Malawi with an allowance and bicycle to preach the Word from church to church, city to city. They also gave bicycles and did much more to help people in other countries. The giving has not stopped.
No one will forget this impeccable night. The next time Ginuwine performs at the Orpheum Theater, stay at The Chambers Hotel, directly across the street from the theater, or at Red Radisson. Meaning
Who invented Black History Month, and why was it promoted for February, the shortest month, or were two other prominent people chosen for this particular month? Did it start with Black History Month, or was it originally called Negro History Week? Please watch the clip for more details about Dr. Carter G. Woodson and his role.
Dr. Woodson did not act alone. Several college campuses extended the week-long celebration of African Americans, from the Arts to Inventors and more, which caught the attention of the White House. Please click on the link and read the article for more detailed information. https://www.vanderbilt.edu/bcc/bhm-history/
Message
“In 1976, President Gerald R. Ford officially recognized Black History Month. President Ford called upon the public to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”
The theme differs each year, but the message is the same: African Americans are honored/applauded for outstanding achievements in any aspect, from Academics and agriculture to Zoology. This year’s theme for Black History Month 2024 focuses on African-Americans in the Arts. Please watch the clip for more information.

Christ The King Baptist Church’s Vision is To Know Christ And To Make Him Known. CTK also focuses on Loving God, others, and yourself. Our Final Sunday, starring an African-American Movies for Black History Month, is the only one I worked in as an EXTRA with my sister, Queen Jude-Blunt, and more friends. One of my favorite sports is Baseball; driving everyone to Miller Park, cheering at the games, eating the delicious food, and having fun were indeed a blast. Shooting the film lasted four days, but it was enough to pay the rent. LOL.
Special thanks to JESUS CHRIST for loving me and allowing me to be in this beautiful movie, Mr. 3000, starring Bernie Mac. May his sweet soul Rest in Peace.

From Labor to Rest
Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Today, the late Hattie M. Handlin departed from life to Heaven. Trustee & nephew Jimmy Patterson said, “She was the family matriarch.” I wonder if she knew that her daughter, Irene Handlin, aka Inky, was also a matriarch for the choir at Christ The King Baptist Church.
1985, Inky asked the question, ‘What are ya going to do?” Only three were at the table when Pastor John Wesley McVicker, Sr., left the Milwaukee Fire Department to start Christ The King Baptist Church. Pastor, First Lady Marilynn, and Inky were at the kitchen table. Without hesitation, the Pastor said, “The church will be rooted in The Word of God.” Inky said, “We will have the best choir!”
Her dedication, determination, and duties affected the Gospel Choir, Mass Choir, Sanctuary Choir, Easter Cantatas, Christmas Programs, and many more. Her leadership, love, and legacy will never be unnoticed. One can say she got it from her Mom. Special thanks to Sister Hattie M. Handlin, who has helped many parishioners along the way; her family members, like niece Marcey Patterson and Jimmy Patterson, joined the church and choir as a youth, singing in the choir and Marcey leading children’s songs.
Kudos to Sister Hattie for giving birth to Inky, who made a difference at Christ The King Baptist Church. May the soul of 92-year-old Sister Hattie M. Handlin rest in Sweet Peace.

Obituary Notification Today-Celebrating The Life & Christian Witness Of Rev. Brenda A. Sheets
During today’s Obituary, WeRemember the Lord’s Servant, Reverend Judy Amos, wearing the African Attire in the photo, is one of Rev. Sheets’s best friends who told Rev. Amos, “If I don’t make it, just tell them the truth.” Rev. Amos admitted that Rev. Sheets had a quiet and calm spirit.
Today’s eulogy for the late Reverend Brenda Sheets, We Hear the Word of the Lord, from Pastor John Wesley McVicker, Sr., is called “A Portrait of a Faithful Member Living Beyond the Pews.”
Pastor John Wesley McVicker, Sr., said Reverend Brenda Sheets has been a Christ The King Baptist Church member since 2008. She was a co-leader of the Altar Guild and a teacher for the Adult Family Life Ministry class.
“She mirrored Job. I never heard her one time say, Why?” Job 1:21 MSG
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, naked I’ll return to the womb of the earth. GOD gives, GOD takes. God’s name be ever blessed.” She held onto her faith. Through sickness, preaching, and teaching, she made every effort to continue what she loved. She pressed her way; she showed up in service. She was in Bible Study and Sunday School. Apostle Paul motivated her.
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord,” Romans 8:38-39.
“No surgery, clinical trial, nothing will keep me from the love of God. She held onto her faith.”

So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Who was St. Valentine?
Fat Tuesday, Feb 13th. What are you giving up for LENT? Fatty food, soda, excessive television, playing games, greasy food, being late, or being lethargic. Maybe some wise people can give up being beaten by broken & wounded people. It’s okay to love yourself and get out of that bad relationship. If your partner physically abuses you, it is not love, but only HATE. Have your abuser arrested, or pack your bags and start somewhere new. JESUS CHRIST loves you, and He will never hit you!
