    Casimir Pulaski 2024, Senior Trip

The Pulaski class of 2024 will embark on a thrilling out-of-state senior trip this June! From June 17th until the 20th, over one hundred students will journey from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the captivating states of Georgia and Alabama, ready to explore and discover.

The requirements for this enriching trip include a 100-dollar deposit towards food and a permission slip, making the total cost affordable. During this educational journey, students will engage in STEM projects, gain insights into career opportunities, and visit colleges/HBCUs, enhancing their academic and personal growth.

Welcome to Casimir Pulaski High School, Mrs. Brandy Williams

    All About Mrs.Williams

Mrs.Williams, a fresh face at Pulaski High School, has quickly become a part of our community. In her short time here, she has been dedicated to building personal connections with our students, a factor that has greatly enriched her experience. She is also an active member of the Pulaski Coffee Club, a student-led organization that promotes social interaction and community building, further fostering a sense of belonging.

“I am excited about being your new College and Career Center (CACC) Advisor. As your advisor, I will be providing guidance on college and career planning, assisting with college applications and financial aid, and organizing career exploration events. My name is Brandy Williams, but please call me Ms. Brandy! After working for seven years at UWM with the Upward Bound Math & Science program, I joined the Pulaski High School team, where I served as the academic advisor.”

    Williams added.

Williams moved to Milwaukee from Rockford, Illinois, in 2010 to further her education. In 2011, she began working as an associate advisor for the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare, where she gained valuable experience in advising students. From there, she moved on to the School of Education, where she served as an advisor and was a member of their recruitment team. She graduated from UWM in 2013 with her Bachelor’s in English and in 2016 with my Master’s in Administrative Leadership. Her educational background and extensive experience in advising and recruitment have equipped her with the knowledge and skills to support students in their college and career journeys.

“I am thrilled to be your new College and Career Center (CACC) Advisor. My name is Brandy Williams, but please call me Ms. Brandy! After working for seven years at UWM with the Upward Bound Math & Science program, I joined the Pulaski High School team, where I served as the academic advisor. I am an avid reader and an obsessive fan of Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and Lord of the Rings. I often refer to myself as a unicorn, not because I have a horn growing out of my head, but because I always look for rainbows in clouds. I believe there is inspiration all around us, and I am always searching for the silver lining. I hope to bring this positive outlook and enthusiasm to my role as the College and Career Center (CACC) Advisor, inspiring and motivating each of you in your college and career journeys.”

    Williams noted.

“I see my role in the CACC, located on the second floor of the main building, as a coach and a mentor to provide all students with the resources and support they need to build a successful future. The CACC offers a wide range of services, including assistance with college applications, financial aid, scholarship applications, writing resumes, and career exploration. The center will also provide educational workshops to help students with college and career readiness. Students are encouraged to stop by as needed or schedule an individual advising session. My office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm during the school year. Feel free to reach out if you need help,”

    Williams emphasized.

Student Accounts At Educators Credit Union

Today, April, a member support specialist at Educators Credit Union, shared how simple and empowering it is for students to open an account with them.

“They offer a variety of options to facilitate the creation of savings and checking accounts, making financial management a breeze for our students. All a student needs to sign up for an account is an ID or proof of address; if a student doesn’t have this, they can have a parent approve this account. Opening a savings account requires a minimum of 25 dollars and a 5-dollar refundable deposit to activate. Opening a checking account is just as straightforward as activating this account with only 20 dollars.”

  • ZOGO is a program that helps you learn and earn.  This program is not just for students or adults but anyone willing to learn more about Personal Finance.  This app gives  “bite-sized lessons on finance.”  Modules are prepared to increase your learning about financial topics, from building wealth to investing in companies.

“A game app allows users to receive bite-size information about topics like

loans, credit reporting, get information and earn pineapples.  The more pineapples, the more gift cards one can earn.”

Shannon Huot, Chief Experience Officer at Educator Credit Union
    Zogo Video

Huot says there is no limit to the number of games one can play.  There are 600 modules, so the ZoGo App is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

“There are always trying to refresh the content, add more content.  It is an ever-evolving platform.”

    Chief Officer Huot

Huot added, “Gift cards come from a separate company.  We help sponsor them like Amazon, Nike, and Fast Food.”

ZOGO is for all students and the community who want to improve their financial skills.  Topics include “Start investing, go to college, get a job, and others.”

    A sample question says:

Which is more likely to return greater profits in the long run, saving or investing?

    SAVING

    INVESTING

    ZOGO APP

One must be a member because a member code is required to access the game. Member Codes are subject to district areas.   However, at local, public, or private schools, students do not have to be a member if they are working with an advisor.  As long as they participate in class, students are given a code during that learning time.

“If students are interested in opening an Educators account, the charge is $5.00 for a prime share-savings account.  The student must be at least 13 years of age and have a current form of ID or School ID.  A School ID is acceptable as long as it’s in the current school year.”

    Chief Officer Huot

A Checking account is also available, depending on the child’s age.  The fees are waived for the students, so they just pay $5.00.

Depending on their age, they can get a debit card with their checking account.
